Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries cheese was an original creation from the Wensleydale Creamery in 1996, and due to its popularity has since been copied by cheesemakers across the UK and beyond. Notably Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese is protected with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status and is unique to Wensleydale Creamery.
Steeped in heritage & provenance, Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese has a history dating back to 1150, when French Cistercian monks settled in Wensleydale and started making cheese. Today, The Wensleydale Creamery proudly continues the art of handcrafting Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese to a time-honored recipe in the market town of Hawes in Wensleydale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, England.
